Nanobloc kicks off its ground-breaking project aimed at developing innovative antiviral, antibacterial and antifungal materials for a safer and healthier world. #MadeInEurope

The kick-off meeting for the EU (Horizon Europe) project NanoBloc took place from January 16th to 18th, 2023, at the Polytechnic University of Turin (POLITO), Italy. The NanoBloc consortium of four leading universities & institutes, and five industrial partners from Belgium, Germany, Italy, Portugal, and Spain will develop and characterise novel nanostructured antimicrobial, antifungal & antiviral coatings for a variety of applications: porous filter materials (air filtration units, face masks), textiles (protective clothing, mattress covers, aprons, wallpaper), & on a variety of high-traffic solid surfaces (doorknobs, handles, handrails, sanitaryware-taps, etc.).

The project is coordinated by Professor Monica Ferraris from the Department of Applied Science and Technology (Glass, Ceramics, and Composite Materials) at POLITO.

This project has been funded by the European Union under the Horizon Europe program, contract number 101057597.
