We are proud to share an important milestone from the EU-funded NANOBLOC project: the successful industrial upscaling of the advanced co-sputtered antimicrobial/antiviral coating developed by the GLANCE Group (DISAT – Politecnico di Torino, POLITO).
Thanks to the strong collaboration between POLITO and AGC Plasma Technology Solutions, the coating has been scaled from lab development to industrial Roll-to-Roll processing, enabling deposition on wide substrates (up to 1.6 m web width). This achievement represents a critical step toward real-world deployment, helping bridge the gap between research outcomes and scalable manufacturing for applications such as technical textiles and filtration.

Key highlights
- Industrial medium-frequency (MF) co-sputtering enabling high-throughput, single-step deposition
- Ultra-thin coatings (100–150 nm) with controlled composition and doping
- Strong antibacterial and antiviral performance on cotton and air-filter substrates
- Independent validation with official ISO 20743 certification
- IP progress: a joint patent pathway between POLITO and AGC is underway
AGC Plasma Technology Solutions has published a dedicated case study featuring these results:
